| I would like to teach others about the truth of homelessness. They need to know that we are not all a bunch of smelly drunks trying to milk the system for all it is worth, and live off it for the rest of our lives. Some people need federalized health care to cover medical costs because they lost work, or are looking but unable to find work. Some homeless have dire medical needs that need to be meet or they will die. Some of us are homeless through no fault of our own. A lot of us are too proud to beg on the streets for money, we want to work for it. We do not want to leave a bad impression on possible employers, so we shower, look nice, don't beg on the street, and take care of ourselves, while trying to better ourselves. The stereotypical homeless person that so many non homeless picture is not at all by any means the majority of us, in fact that is quite usually the exact opposite of what a majority of us look like. We look just like any other normal person out there. Danielle Mack |
